The composition "les écoutis. le Caire." will be premiered on Deutschland radio
on september 18, time tba.
The piece is based on field recordings collected in Cairo during a residency in january 2008.
The sound files were collected at several locations in the City – a bathroom, an indoor market, a basilica, a backstreet, the inside of a refrigerator and a parking hall - chosen for their resonant properties and rather quiet contexts.
"les écoutis. le Caire." presents itself as a very tactile deconstruction of spatial representation through sound, abolishing boundaries between interior and exterior, foreground and background, subject and object, real and imaginary.
